My general sentiment is that I liked this book.
I was eager to read it when I got home each day. The premise (as described in many other reviews already) is multiple storylines all converging on a wedding weekend in Vegas. As one would imagine, some of the storylines are going to stand out as favorites (and the favorites may be different for each reader). I was most interested in continuing the Claire/Amanda storyline. It was intriguing, rich, well developed and very realistic. On the flip side of that coin, I found myself hoping the Jordan sections would end sooner. I didn't understand the relationship that she was chasing nor feel any chemistry between those two characters. But another reader just might. All in all, there is something for everyone in this book.

When is a wedding more than a wedding? When it's the background for a group of people to find out a lot of information about themselves.

Dani and Shannon have been planning their wedding in Las Vegas for a long time. Shannon would have preferred something less elaborate, but Dani feels like a big event is a sign of her love for Shannon. She has paid to fly in their closest friends for a week of activities before the wedding and everything will be perfect. It has to be because afterward Dani has to tell Shannon that she's been out of work for more than a month, she really can't afford any of their plans and their world is about to fall apart. Shannon is hiding a secret of her own that could be just as devastating to their relationship. It soon becomes clear that their friends Jordan and Claire and Shannon's niece Amanda have issues of their own to resolve. Whatever answer each woman settles on will change the group dynamic significantly and could end relationships that have taken years to build.

The Wedding Party ostensibly starts out as the story of a group of friends celebrating a wedding; however, Richardson soon takes it into an exploration of what keeping secrets and not trusting people can do to relationships. Dani and Shannon cannot admit certain truths to each other despite their long relationship. It raises the question of how you can commit to someone if you can't trust them with the truth. Jordan, the eternal womanizer, is afraid to admit that she's finally reached a point where she wants stability and Amanda is afraid to trust the person she has been the closest to all of her life. Claire is hiding more than anyone, not only from her friends, but from herself. The reader might question how this group can be so close when the members are keeping so much from each other, but the reality is that people often hide things from those they rely on the most. What Richardson shows is the consequences of this behavior and possible solutions for these situations.

Tracey Richardson is very good at writing stories that have more depth than appears on the surface. The Wedding Party can be enjoyed as a character study of a group of friends, but a little more thought shows that it's also about the importance of openness and honesty in maintaining a group dynamic. A standard story is used to mask a more important lesson. Richardson writes well. It's always easy to recommend her books.
Dani is on the verge of marrying the love of her life, Shannon. She has planned a no expenses spared wedding in Vegas. No cost is too much to lavish on her bride to be and their guests. There is one problem though, Dani is hiding a secret from her bride to be. A secret that could mean the wedding is off.

Shannon is in seventh heaven, she is about to marry her lover of six years, Dani. Unfortunately all is not as it seems with Shannon. She has a secret that is eating away at her. A secret that when it comes out, as it must, could put an end to the love between Dani and herself.

Claire, a doctor and Shannon's best friend, has been alone since the death of her lover Ann, three years earlier. Her life has been on hold grieving for her lost lover. She goes to Vegas, only because she can't not be at her friend's wedding. Once there, Claire finds a love that she isn't sure she can accept, for several reasons.

Amanda, Shannon's niece, is hiding a huge secret from her aunt. One that she knows must come out. Whilst in Vegas, Amanda finds love again, but will her love be reciprocated?

Jordan, Dani's best friend. Her love `em and leave `em way of life over the years has resulted in her leaving a trail of broken hearts in her wake. She is a player. That is until she meets Dez in Vegas. Then the tables are turned. Jordan falls for Dez, only to get a taste of her own medicine when she is dumped. Will Jordan be able to change Dez's mind?

All these secrets waiting to come out. All these secrets that could destroy lives. What will happen to those in the wedding party?

This is a truly fabulous book. Each of these characters has a story to tell. I couldn't put this book down. The book is a mixture of happy and sad, but the happiness shines through. The anguish felt by each character was superbly written. The cast of supporting characters throughout each helped in enhancing the story. It would be great to have a sequel or at the very least, meet some of the characters again in another book.
This is the first book by Richardson where the story is based on multiple characters and I have to admit I absolutely loved it. Most of Richardson's books focus on the romance and struggles of one character's view, but The Wedding Party brings together multiple characters views and how they each intertwine with each other. Each person comes together in celebrating the wedding of their friends all the while dealing with their own romances, struggles & life. Every chapter is dedicated to a specific character in detail, but yet stays true to the plot. It was entertaining, exciting, sad and happy all rolled into one!
My general sentiment is that I liked this book.
